I start using default color scheme, my eyes get tired in, maybe 5 mins. compared to 4-5 hours in EPIC (Eclipse) or RubyMine (IDEA).

Possible irritants:

Light green bracket highlighting.
Run-time perl Warnings display
Bright yellow background.

Other bright colors.

Looks too flickering for persons with not very good eyes =) I spent some time tuning padre settings but still can't get it work for me with any of the schemes and be functional at same time.
