Crashing Padre badly with a simple recipe

Description

This is an ubuntu 8.04 on x86_64 with system perl.

Run padre. Open two documents (I included Main.pm for good measure.). Enable syntax checking and outlines. Keep (slowly) switching between the two opened documents. You'll see the load increase by means of a changing thread indicator in the toolbar (the ampersand).

At some point, padre will just silently crash. Well, depending on whether you're running perl within or enabled core dumps.

I don't know how to fix this. I have no setup with debugging-perl and debugging-wx available and if I did, I still wouldn't be qualified.
