"Split window" command does not work

Windows XP SP3, Perl 5.10, Wx 0.89, wxWidgets 2.8.8

When clicking on "Split window" under Window > Split Window nothing will happen.

I am removing this feature since it neither did vertical nor horizontal splits. It is fixed in r8348.
