PDL Plugin

In order to make PDL a more viable alternative to Matlab there should be a PDL plugin for Padre.

Matlab is both a language and an IDE. PDL does not have the IDE part that's what Padre can provide.

Matlab has a REPL-like window where one can type in both math related functions and command to the editor (e.g. edit filename that will open the file for editing)

In addition the same window can be used during debugging to evaluate expressions in the running code and/or to change values or even to define variables.

There seems to be no way of adding a link to the wiki page "Competitor Analysis", besides giving the direct URL, so here it is: http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Competitor%20Analysis

Here is the PDL website: http://pdl.perl.org/

Some feature ideas for the plug-in:

  1. PDL2 REPL support
  2. possibility to add the curses-based PDL::IO::Browser (future: Wx version of the browser)
  3. MIME support for typical file formats supported by PDL
  4. Compile PDL script via PDL::PP and C
  5. code completion
