Description
In the File/Recent? files menu there is only limited space for the files so we only keep 10. It could go up to 20 but 30 would be too much.
A listing of the 1000 most recent files would be unusable but
the open-resource from ecliptic could handle such situation as it would only display those that match to a filter the user already typed in. It would be also similar to the history search in the unix shell.
I don't know how and where should be this integrated.

Personally, I think it's a bad idea UI-wise. Files can not be compares with commands as they are hierarchical and are better suited with an other metaphor (e.g. tree).
