"Newline same column" does not work as advertised with tabs

It seems that it only works with leading spaces, put a tab and it fails to work correctly.

r8239 brought a 80% fix: The correct combination of tabs/spaces is now calculated, but the newline added also triggers additional chars which need to be removed.
